18th century Scottish whiskies weren't always that consistent. The one you enjoyed yesterday might taste completely different tomorrow. For one young man named John Walker - the proprietor of a grocer's in Kilmarnock - this wasn't good enough. He wanted his customers to enjoy the same quality and flavour time after time after time. So he began to blend them together until he produced a whisky he was happy to put his name to. A special extension of the world-famous Johnnie Walker range, King George V celebrates the first Royal Warrant granted to John Walker and Sons Ltd to supply Scotch whisky to the British Royal Household in 1934, and is apparently designed to recreate how Johnnie Walker might have tasted in the past. Containing only rare whiskies from distilleries open during the reign of King George V, including some from distilleries that no longer exist, such as Port Ellen. Huge yet graceful with exquisite flavours of roasted nuts, rich fruits and spice with a hint of smokiness. The decanter and presentation box were inspired by the life and reign of King George V.
